FUN / Crowds Around the 2017 Met Gala

Monday, May 1, 2017 – The annual Met Gala in NYC is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, but – thanks to major fashion-world and celebrity wattage – this small soiree for socialites has become a major international media event that seems to get bigger each year. (Like Thanksgiving, it even has its own recurring day: the first Monday in May. Wow.)

Inside the tented opening entrance, everyone from A-Z (Anna Wintour - Zendaya) work the red carpet. OUTSIDE, fans gather all along 5th Avenue and near the Museum entrance to get a glimpse of stars exiting their SUV's. Sometimes they chant their faves' names (Kylie Jenner and Gigi got major love). It's a party-like atmosphere that's not quite fully utilized!

(I know it's a serious "Museum" event, but how amazing would it be to have a host, me!, on a grand stand outside, announcing the arrivals, getting some quick interviews, and working to increase the overall live audience engagement and interaction? Call me, Anna.)

See what was happening on the INSIDE the white tents, via these 2017 Met Gala Best Dressed lists:

- Vogue (who basically run the entire thing)

- Fashionista

- Refinery 29
